X-DF2.0 Technologies
Cutting-edge performance improvements for X-DF dual-fuel engines
WinGD continues to improve the marine market’s most well-established low-pressure dual-fuel LNG engines with the addition of new X-DF2.0 technologies, delivering greater efficiency, improved emissions compliance and increased operational flexibility.
The first two X-DF2.0 technologies, iCER and VCR. have become well-established options for newbuild X-DF engine orders, and are also available for retrofitting – delivering a mid-life efficiency boost that can extend the compliance of older vessels.
WinGD’s spirit of innovation drives the search for further ways to improve our engines, and more X-DF2.0 technologies will be developed as dual-fuel technology becomes a mainstream choice for maritime operators.
iCER – Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling
The first X-DF2.0 technology to be introduced, in 2020, iCER has become a favoured option amongst LNG carriers and other gas-fuelled vessels seeking to harness the advantages of low-pressure dual-fuel engine systems with even lower greenhouse gas emissions (including methane slip) and Tier III NOx compliance without SCR in both gas and diesel mode.
VCR – Variable Compression Ratio technology
VCR technology eliminates any compromise in diesel performance in dual-fuel engines, and provides plenty of upside in LNG mode too. The result of a ten-year engine builder collaboration, VCR is the first solution for a marine engine to dynamically adjust compression based on fuel type and engine load – delivering optimal fuel consumption and emissions whichever fuel operators choose to use.
